What is Phenol?
Phenol is both a manufactured chemical and a natural substance. It is found primarily in resins, weed killers, plastics, nylon and other synthetic fibers, and in disinfectants and antiseptics like mouthwash and sore throat lozenges. Phenol releases noxious gases into the air at potentially harmful levels. It is extremely hazardous if inhaled, affecting the central nervous system, and possibly triggering life-threatening reactions in some people.
